Clay Bank Nature Park for Outdoor Learning

Help us take stock of local biodiversity in the park, track rare species and tackle invasive ones.

Fun for the entire family!

  • See who can submit the most species observations
  • Scavenger hunt for children to see who can spot the largest number of critters

Rain or Shine! 

Before the event:

  • Download the iNaturalist App on your cellphone
  • Decide which area you want to cover between the following (Field, Creek Bed, River Shore, Woods, Community Garden)
  • Wear appropriate clothing (ex. Rubber Boots for the Creek or River Shore; bring a net if you wish)

Event Day:

  • Meet a the "Teachable Moments" pad, to be divided into groups
  • Receive instructions from biology graduate Owen Ridgen
  • Take pictures of whatever you find (insects, plants, trees, burds, reptiles, animals, etc.)
  • Upload the pictures to the iNaturalist app, which will help you identify what you've captured
